Usson
Clinging to a volcanic peak looking onto the Puy Chain, the Monts Dore mountains and the Cézallier plateau, Usson and its black stone winegrowers’ houses were once dominated by a castle in which Queen Margot was exiled for 19 years. A path leads to the village’s basalt columns south of the Romanesque church of Saint Maurice and the queen’s chapel.
