This Saturday, 20 September at 8.30 pm, as part of Heritage Days and the Festival des Nuits Blanches, the internationally renowned Japanese pianist Maki Namekawa will be performing at Saint-Denis Church in Lyons-la-Forêt.
The neo-classical composer Philip Glass, a close friend of hers, was the guest of honour at this third edition of the festival.
A regular on the world’s greatest stages (she played to a sold-out audience at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2024), equally at home in classical and contemporary repertoire, Maki Namekawa will do you the honour of performing the 20 Piano Etudes on Saturday, a masterful work emblematic of Philip Glass’s musical output.
This is a truly exceptional opportunity to hear an artist of this calibre in a village such as Lyons-la-Forêt, and in such an intimate setting as the Church of Saint-Denis: the front rows are just a few metres from the pianist!
