And one day in 1907, in the heart of the village, at the corner of the market hall, the road gave way beneath the wheel of a cart… Long forgotten and even erased from the collective memory, it was through a trivial accident that the cave dwellings of Belvès were rediscovered. Today, a major tourist attraction, these eight underground dwellings – still hidden beneath the market hall – are revealed to the public during guided tours organised all year round.
