The birthplace of vin jaune – Château-Chalon AOC wines

The Jura vineyards

Château-Chalon, the birthplace of the famous Vin Jaune, looks out over its vineyards from the top of the cliff on which the village is built. The village originated from a castle and a Benedictine abbey, and it has preserved the remains of the keep and the Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre.
