Nestled in the heart of the Creuse Valley, Gargilesse-Dampierre invites you to stroll through its medieval streets and past its houses with steep-pitched roofs. The Romanesque church and the castle come into view as you stroll along.

Word of Mouth
A renowned harpist, Pierre JAMET decided to settle in Gargilesse in the early 1960s to give private harp lessons. Encouraged by friends, he first founded a harp school there, which evolved into a festival in 1968. Now a veritable institution for lovers of this musical instrument, this international event will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2027. Today, it is Pierre JAMET’s daughter, Marie-Claire – also a harpist – who has taken over the reins to develop the festival, making Gargilesse the world capital of the harp.

George Sand tells her story through the drawings of children from all over the world.
One woman, one life, a thousand children?s stories to tell. For this exhibition, children from all over the world have been invited to present George Sand: the woman, the writer and the free spirit she embodied. Their drawings recount her story, her ideas, her passions, her heroines and heroes, her deep connection with nature, and the inspiration she continues to inspire far beyond her time and country. Embark on a sensitive and colorful journey, where literature meets the imagination of the world?s children. An invitation to discover George Sand in a different way... from a child?s point of view. With the participation of children in England, Afghanistan, Armenia, Benin, Cambodia, France, India, Morocco, Martinique, Nepal, Romania, Russia, Tajikistan...
