In pace with the Loue
Situated 45 km south of Besançon, where the River Loue cascades through the landscape, Lods is a village where blacksmithing and winegrowing have long shaped the lives of its inhabitants. The village has preserved the houses of its winegrowers and established a Museum of Vines and Wine, as well as an ethnological trail recounting the history of its former blacksmiths and winegrowers, in memory of its past activities.

Architecture in Lods
Several houses in the small town of Lods feature very distinctive shutters. These are wooden louvred shutters that do not fold down… but slide along two guide rails fixed to the façade. Some might say there is nothing unusual about this, as this type of shutter seems to be used more and more frequently. And yet, in Lods, these shutters probably date back to the early 20th century! These architectural features add character to the houses in this remarkable village and are well worth preserving.
