Yèvre-le-Châtel, a medieval village and a "Jardin Remarquable" in the heart of the Loiret
Did you know that Yèvre-le-Châtel is the only village in the Loiret to be listed among Les Most Beautiful Villages of France and one of the few towns in France to hold the "Remarkable Garden"?
Nestled between Gâtinais and Beauce, its 13th-century fortress watches over the village and its two churches. Continue your stroll through its narrow streets lined with limestone houses and climbing roses, to the gardens and works of contemporary art scattered throughout the village, to discover all its treasures.
Somewhere between medieval and contemporary, a stop on the Loiret Rose Route
From its 13th-century castle to its fragrant rose garden, Yèvre-le-Châtel invites you to explore its medieval heritage, punctuated with contemporary touches and enhanced by the colour and scent of the flowers.
Word of Mouth
Following in the footsteps of Victor Hugo in 1834, Yèvre continues to inspire artists and sculptors. Their works can be found throughout the village, and even in the cemetery, with a bas-relief by Dimas Macédo on his grave and a bronze monument by Jean Aguera.
