A stunning exhibition of Neapolitan nativity scenes in Gassin (Var)
For the third year running, the tourist information office in Gassin is hosting Christian Léandre Ganga’s Neapolitan nativity scene, a masterful work combining art and tradition. Set within a completely refurbished 20 m² display, 150 Neapolitan santons bring to life various scenes, blending Baroque exuberance, popular devotion and secular theatrics.
Each figure, meticulously sculpted and dressed by hand, reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of Christian Léandre Ganga, former collection director for the prestigious haute couture house Estérel.
An art form straddling the sacred and the secular
The Neapolitan Nativity scene, a legacy of 18th-century Italian Baroque traditions, is distinguished by its striking blend of religious devotion and secular theatricality.
The figures, richly dressed and strikingly expressive, come to life within an immersive setting that transports visitors into a vibrant and teeming scene.
