"Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" are taking part in the European Days of Artistic Crafts®.
As partners of the National Institute of Arts and Crafts, ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ are taking part in the European Days of Arts and Crafts, from 7 to 12 April 2026. Every year, more than 40 villages across France organise events, exhibitions and demonstrations… in collaboration with local craftspeople.
JEMA 2026 – Hearts at Work
Under the theme ‘Hearts at Work’, the 2026 European Artistic Crafts Days® celebrate the vitality of rural areas with vigour and sensitivity. They highlight the deep roots of artistic craftspeople in their local environments, as well as the vibrant and fruitful links that the artistic crafts forge with culture, heritage and local life.
To put one’s heart into one’s work means practising one’s craft with passion, rigour and generosity. It also means keeping one’s heart open to others: to local residents, visitors and fellow craftspeople. In rural areas even more so than elsewhere, the arts and crafts form part of a collective endeavour, built on the passing on of skills, mutual support and the human and cultural synergies essential to their vitality.
Guardians of the past yet resolutely looking to the future, Les Plus Beaux Villages de France are special places of life and creativity for craftspeople. Throughout history, they have helped shape the character of today’s ‘villages’ villages by passing on their expertise, taking part in the construction of churches and castles, or restoring works of art from the past. By putting their heart and soul into their work, they create a dialogue between tradition and modernity, material and meaning, heritage and contemporary creation, breathing a vibrant and deeply human energy into the villages.

JEMA 2026 – Our favourites
In Normandy, Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei (Orne) celebrates excellence
In a bend of the River Sarthe, Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei will bring together six craftspeople in the church and other venues around the village. Join us on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, from 10.30 am to 5 pm.
In the Pays de la Loire region, Sainte-Suzanne (Mayenne) gives its artisans free rein
In the courtyard of the château in Sainte-Suzanne the Art’ Elier association is giving its artisans free rein to exhibit their work.
In Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, Les Baux-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) and Mont-Dauphin (Hautes-Alpes) are celebrating the arts and crafts
For its fourth year taking part, the village of Les Baux-de-Provence is highlighting training in traditional crafts and hosting the region’s traditional crafts fair. At various venues around the village, professionals and training centres invite you to join them on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April, from 9am to 6pm.
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Excellence at the heart of the arts and crafts of Monflanquin (Lot-et-Garonne)
For its 10th appearance, Monflanquin is hosting an exhibition: “Cœurs d’artisans”. A wide range of events are also planned in the village on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th April.
In Occitanie, the spotlight is on the arts and crafts in Lauzerte (Tarn-et-Garonne) and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (Lot)
About twenty kilometres north of Moissac, Lauzerte is organising its traditional “Place aux Métiers d’Art” event, where nearly 50 artisans welcome visitors every year at various venues around the village.
In the Lot, craftspeople gather for their biennial fair in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.
In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, take a journey into the heart of the arts and crafts in Pérouges (Rhône) or Charroux (Allier)
In Pérouges, the Ain Chamber of Trades and Crafts, the Plaine de l’Ain Community of Communes, the Cité de Pérouges, the Committee for the Preservation of Old Pérouges, the Museum of Bugiste Traditions and the Ain Association of Artistic Crafts will be offering a unique cultural and heritage trail centred on the arts and crafts.
The Charroux Women Artisans are once again inviting children and families to come and have fun exploring the world of arts and crafts.
