The International Federation of the Most Beautiful Villages on Earth meets in Alsace
From 15 to 18 May 2025, Alsace will host a unique event bringing together the international networks of the Most Beautiful Villages on Earth. This annual gathering will bring together delegations from nine countries, united by a common goal: to preserve and promote exceptional rural heritage around the world.
A global network that began in France
Since its creation in 1982, the ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’ label has inspired many countries to develop their own networks: Wallonia (1994), Quebec (1998), Italy (2001), Japan (2005), Spain (2011) and Switzerland (2015). All are now members of the International Federation of the Most Beautiful Villages on Earth, founded in 2012.
In addition to these founding members, other countries such as Saxony (Germany), Russia, Lebanon, China and Bosnia and Herzegovina have joined the Federation as associate members, reflecting the growing influence of this global initiative.
Since 2024, the Federation has been chaired by Alain DI STEFANO, President of the Most Beautiful Villages of France.
Three days of discussions in the heart of the Most Beautiful Villages of Alsace
The 2025 International Meetings will take place mainly in Riquewihr, an iconic village in Alsace and the nerve centre of the event. Over three days, representatives from the various networks will share their experiences during working sessions, including a mini-seminar on the theme of ‘Sustainable Development and Tourism’, and will take part in the General Assembly and the Federation’s Board of Directors.
Participants will also discover other certified Alsatian gems, including Hunawihr, Mittelbergheim, Bergheim and Eguisheim. Cultural visits and social events will feature throughout the programme, encouraging exchanges between representatives from all over the world.
Coming up: Romantic Night 2025
Another highlight of the year for the international network: Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages, to be held on Saturday 21 June 2025. Launched by Italy in 2016, this evening invites visitors to enjoy an unforgettable experience in a poetic and festive atmosphere. Illuminations, concerts, special menus and romantic entertainment will set the tone for this celebration of the timeless charm of the “Most Beautiful Villages”…
