Ainhoa, a village in the heart of the Basque Country

Nestled between the Spanish border and the hills of Labourd, this 12th-century bastide, situated on the Way of St James, features a main street lined with red half-timbered houses in the Labourdin style.

The flavours and terroirs of the region are epitomised here by the famous Espelette pepper, a regional staple. Look up at the bell tower of the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption church, then climb up to the Aubépine Chapel: the Basque Country stretches as far as the eye can see.

Basque Experiences

From the heart of the village to the heights of Mount Atsulai, Ainhoa reveals its panoramic views and history, blending spirituality, Basque traditions and nature.
