Exposition de Cathy Cavalier

Exhibition from mid-August to the end of September at the Belcastel tourist information office, organized by the Belcastel Accueil Information association.

Description by Cathy Cavalier: "I don't like to use the word "self-taught" For me, my training as a painter is rooted in the most prestigious school of art? that of nature. And to speak of an art school, to hone one?s senses and sensibility within it, is as intense as it gets. Observation, in all its depth, is linked to sensitivity, opening the doors to beauty, reality and life. And so, naturally, my path towards landscape painting was born, an impressionism, almost pointillism, close to realism. I use oil paint, this thick, rustic material appeals to me and, above all, it offers me the advantage of creating a myriad of hues at my convenience. After all, I never use a color like this out of the tube. The detail I'm particularly fond of forms a case. Multiple little touches come onto my canvas, like an embroiderer weaving her stitches on a tapestry. So I can say with the strongest conviction that my first influence, and the one that will always follow me, is nature. And I believe that not having studied art in a human school is an asset. I regularly exhibit on the Aubrac plateau. It's a place I'm particularly fond of. A source of inspiration, this countryside distills irresistible charms, or oozes something ancestral; shaped by the teeth of herds. The richness of its flora, the magnificence of its forests, the intensity of its skies, are all reflected in my paintings. Aubrac village, Laguiole, Nasbinals, St Chely d?Apcher, St Genies d?Olt, regularly host my paintings. But also Najac, Albi, Cassagnes Beghones, La galerie des Capucine in Onet le Château, Rodez?etc? I've been painting for a very long time, and I'm still exhibiting, with the loyalty of certain places? At the same time, I'd like to emphasize my enjoyment of writing, which takes its source on the same path as my painting. Words replace the pointillism of colors, and teem with just as many details? and carry us along in the same wake. So, quite naturally, I find pleasure in the little texts that accompany some of my paintings. Leaving everyone free to enjoy them."
