Acquired in 2008 by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, the Château de Châteauneuf’s last private owners (1811–1836) were the Vogüés, an illustrious family of the French nobility, the most famous branch of which owns the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. It was the Count of Vogüé who secured the Château de Châteauneuf’s listing as a Historic Monument in 1894, and his descendants still own the nearby Château de Commarin. In the Ardèche, the Château de Vogüé serves as a reminder of the Vivarais origins of this line of lords. It is situated in the village of the same name… which is also listed among Les Plus Beaux Villages de France!

An exhibition for all ages on the work being carried out at the château between 2022 and 2024. Go behind the scenes of the work and admire the latest discoveries from the excavations! Children have not been forgotten, with play areas specially designed for them.

Soirée mystère au château de Châteauneuf
The Count and Countess of Vienne-Châteauneuf invite you to a reception on 23 and 30 October 1655. It is an occasion for sharing and conviviality, bringing together family, friends and a few visiting guests. The programme is thrown into disarray by a worrying message sent by the lord of the castle. He reports that strange phenomena are occurring at Châteauneuf Castle. Lights can be seen in empty rooms, strange noises are heard and peculiar odours are detected. Wrapped up warm, you are invited to come and solve this mystery at Châteauneuf Castle. 23 and 30 October. At 5.30 pm. Booking essential. Ages 12 and over.

Dimanche gratuit au château de Châteauneuf
On the first Sunday of every month during the low season, from October to May (except 1 November 2026), Châteauneuf Castle opens its doors to the public free of charge. Come and explore the château at your leisure or join a guided tour from 9.45 am to 12.30 pm and from 2 pm to 5.30 pm. Please collect a free ticket from the château’s reception. Children’s trails (“A Brand New Château for Noisette and Caramel” or “The Chimera”) are available at reception.
