Take a trip back to the Middle Ages
Situated around thirty kilometres from Lyon and overlooking the Ain plain, Pérouges has spent centuries painstakingly restoring its distinctive medieval architecture.
Word of Mouth
Although it has long since spread far beyond the village’s borders, it was indeed in Pérouges that the “Printemps de Pérouges” festival was born! In 1997, whilst strolling through the medieval town, Marie Rigaud, then a presenter at Radio Classique, fell in love with the church and organised the first festival in just four months. Since then, more than 20,000 spectators have flocked to the Plaine de l’Ain every year for concerts by big names from the world of French music and the international scene, from Michel Jonasz to ZZ Top, not to mention Nathalie Dessay… Their venues? Venues as unusual as they are varied, such as the fortified church in Pérouges, the Polo Club site in Saint-Vulbas or the courtyard of Chazey-sur-Ain Castle.
