A Breton town of stone and flowers
Situated 35 km east of Vannes, on a rocky hill overlooking the Gueuzon valley, the Breton town of Rochefort-en-Terre gives an impression of unity despite the diversity of architectural styles found there: half-timbered houses, Gothic buildings, Renaissance mansions, classical mansions, 19th-century architecture... It is stone, omnipresent here, that forms the link between these different testimonies to history.

Like many châteaux, the château at Rochefort-en-Terre has endured many vicissitudes. The most recent of these proved almost fatal, as it was almost entirely destroyed in the aftermath of the Revolution. Enamoured with the site, the American painter Alfred KLOTS ‘saved’ what remained of the estate in 1907. Using reclaimed materials, notably from the Kéralio manor house in Noyal-Muzillac, he commissioned the construction of a neo-Gothic manor house. Having become municipal property in 2013, the château now houses a museum dedicated to the arts of the imagination, showcasing works inspired by the world of fantasy and the dreamlike.

We'll blow the circuit breaker and show you some of our 200 fantastic, strange and dreamlike works. An unprecedented, chilling immersion in a Naia Museum that's darker than ever.
