Fancy a break in the countryside and some spectacular views? Follow the “Derrière le couvent” trail – part of the Mercantour panoramic GR route – to the Sainte-Croix chapel and enjoy the view of the mountains and the rugged Bendola canyon.
Try the pie and the picore
Fancy a bite to eat? Try the Saorge-style pie – a thin olive oil pastry filled with vegetables – or the ‘picore’, a brioche with sultanas flavoured with aniseed and orange blossom, two genuine Saorge specialities! And don’t miss the Pie Festival in July!
Attend an organ concert at Saint-Sauveur Church
Take a seat amidst the stucco, gilding and pastel colours, and let yourself be carried away by the powerful melodies of the Italian organ at the heart of the church. This is a delight to be experienced at one-off concerts or as part of the programme of the International Festival of the Royal Organ Route or the Roya Early Music Festival.

Every Saturday morning, the Saorge market offers locally sourced produce and regional specialities, all in a friendly and authentic atmosphere on Place George Clémenceau.

Mountain bike route: from the Cairos Valley to the Maglia Valley
Hop on your bike for a 40 km escape! Setting off from Saorge, ride through the unspoilt landscapes of the Roya and the Mercantour National Park. On the ridges, take a moment to admire the horizon stretching out… all the way to the sea.
Hike to the Cime d’Anan
Fancy a challenge? This 15 km hike takes you on a dizzying ascent through forests, mountain pastures and ‘casouns’ (stone huts). From the summit, the view over the Ligurian Alps and the Mediterranean is breathtaking, especially when the spring flowers carpet the slopes...
