Turenne, a medieval village overlooking the Corrèze countryside and the Dordogne Valley
Perched on a limestone hill in the south of Corrèze, Turenne invites you to stroll through its cobbled streets lined with old mansions adorned with turrets. Former capital of a powerful viscounty spanning Limousin, Périgord and Quercy, the village bears witness to ten centuries of history. Climb up to the Château de Turenne and enjoy exceptional views over the Limousin countryside, then explore the shops and craft workshops that bring the Corrèze region to life.
A white fortress in the Corrèze region
From the top of its hill, follow in the footsteps of Turenne’s medieval past: a viscounty, steep alleyways and breathtaking views… So, are you ready for this getaway to Corrèze?
Word of Mouth
Until the 18th century, the Viscounty of Turenne was an independent feudal state. It minted its own coins, collected its own taxes and maintained its own army… That is why its architecture is so refined!
