Balazuc, a sentinel perched above the Ardèche
Perched on its limestone cliff, Balazuc has watched over the river for centuries. At every turn, you are transported back to its medieval past: a labyrinth of narrow streets, vaulted passageways and Romanesque ruins.
After visiting the village, head to the Ardèche for a swim, a canoe trip or even an afternoon at the Ardèche Museum.
So what’s stopping you?
A medieval and nature getaway along the Ardèche

In the words of the people of Balazuc
Imagine the Ardèche in full flood, rising to a height of 15 metres! In 1890, a once-in-a-millennium flood submerged the bridge. A plaque still stands today as a reminder of the incredible height the water reached.
