Welcome to Blangy-le-Château: medieval history, thatched-roof houses and the landscapes of the Pays d’Auge

Its castle ruins bear witness to its rich medieval past. With its Gothic church, fountains and old inn, Blangy-le-Château invites you to enjoy a peaceful getaway in Normandy.
The ‘Little Rome’ of Calvados
Nestled amongst seven hills, Blangy-le-Château takes you on a journey along its rivers and streams to discover its Norman heritage.
A legend in Blangy-le-Château
In Blangy-le-Château, it is rumoured that the ruins of the old keep are still home to Claire, a young shepherdess wearing a silver bracelet. On full-moon nights, be careful!

Dessiner avec les USK Normandie !
Let’s draw Blangy-le-Château together!
Meet at 9.30 am for a welcome with a cup of coffee, courtesy of the ‘Atelier 4 Angles’ and the ‘Le Jardin des Muses’ bookshop Every year, we organise a regional gathering: following events at Pointe de La Hague/Omonville, Beuvron-en-Auge and Bayeux, Blangy-le-Château will be our next destination. On 26 September 2026, from 9.30 am, the Sketchers will take over the village to sketch whatever inspires them (details, façades, etc.) Participation is free and open to everyone, whether you’re a beginner at sketching or not; you just need to bring your own materials (at least paper and a pencil, and perhaps a chair). There are no lessons, no competitions – just the pleasure of learning to sketch by sketching! (Please note: the event may be postponed in the event of bad weather) Who are the Urban Sketchers? Urban Sketchers (USk) is a non-profit organisation that promotes the artistic, narrative and educational value of ‘on-site’ sketching. It promotes this art form and forges links between sketchers around the world, whether they are at home or travelling. In France, there are more than thirty groups that hold the USk label. This year’s national Urban Sketchers gathering in Rouen welcomed around 1,500 sketchers. USk Normandie brings together the USk groups from Caen, Rouen, Le Havre, Cherbourg and Dieppe. Lunch is at your own expense; picnic tables are available at the castle ruins.
