Facing the Catalan sun

Nestled between the Conflent Valley and Mount Canigou, Eus presents its terraced facades to the warm Catalan sun, which helps to foster lush vegetation. This former defensive stronghold repelled the French in the 16th century and the Spanish army in the 18th century. Today, in place of the old citadel stands the imposing Church of Saint-Vincent, at the foot of which wind the steep, cobbled streets.

Housed in the village's former school, the museum uses period tools, objects and furniture to trace the lives of Eus's inhabitants in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

A Eus tradition

Do you enjoy running? Do you enjoy sunbathing? Would you like to combine both pleasures at the same time? Then take part in the “Course des Lézards”, which has been held in Eus for over twenty years now! This event is organised every last Sunday in August by the “Le Lézard Sportif” association (you couldn’t make it up!). The route covers nearly 13 km through the town, considered one of the sunniest in France! You’ll be the envy of the locals in Eus… known as “els luerts” (the Catalan name for the green lizard).
