Perched atop a cliff at 760 metres, Gourdon overlooks the Gorges du Loup and the Mediterranean. A veritable balcony overlooking the Côte d’Azur, it winds its cobbled streets, stone houses and artisan workshops around an imposing castle and its gardens designed by Le Nôtre. Between sky and sea, this medieval village in the Nice hinterland offers a stopover with panoramic views that take your breath away.

Take a refreshing break at the Saut du Loup waterfalls, where the river has sculpted the landscape over time. From the viewing point, you can admire the Grande Marmite, a natural pool, as well as the Demoiselles and Pétrifiantes waterfalls.

Named after Queen Victoria, who visited Gourdon in 1891, this square boasts exceptional views of the sparkling sea and the entire Côte d'Azur. On a clear day, you can even make out the distant Corsican hills.

Word of Mouth

At the start of the 20th century, Gourdon was cut off from the rest of the world! To reach Pont-du-Loup, you had to ride a mule up the Chemin du Paradis, where caravans still passed each other as late as 1900.

Mountain Bike Route – Haut Montet Summit

If you’re up for a challenge, hop on your mountain bike for a scenic loop around Gourdon. With steep climbs and 360° views, this demanding 30 km route promises an adrenaline rush and a good workout, from the viewpoint to the summit of Haut Montet. A great ride for the late season!
