In the footsteps of the medieval knights

Set against a backdrop reminiscent of certain Scottish landscapes, La Garde-Guérin sits on a plateau overlooking the impressive Chassezac Canyon. A former strategic site on the Voie Régordane — the route linking the Languedoc coast to the Massif Central — the village was attacked several times, yet it still boasts its watchtower, traditional houses and cobbled streets.

Word of Mouth

As you follow a path leading to the Chassezac viewpoint, you can take in the spectacular scenery of the gorges of the same name, with granite cliffs stretching 7 km long and around 400 m deep! This canyon offers a wide variety of landscapes and was long nicknamed ‘the Devil’s Lair’ due to its rugged terrain. The site’s qualities have earned it a place on the list of ‘remarkable landscapes’. The more adventurous can test their mettle against the elements by taking part in outdoor activities such as rock climbing, kayaking or white-water swimming.
