In Auvillar, follow in the footsteps of pilgrims on the Way of St James and boatmen on the Garonne
In the heart of the village stands the circular market hall, a symbol of Auvillar, on a triangular square. With its pink bricks and white stone, bathed in sunshine, everything here exudes the spirit of the south-west!
Once a bustling centre of river trade on the Garonne, the village of Auvillar still preserves the memory of the fine earthenware and goose feathers for which it was renowned. Located not far from Moissac Abbey, Auvillar remains a popular stop for pilgrims on the Way of St. James. It is well worth a detour.

Word of Mouth
In the 18th century, Auvillar made a name for itself by processing goose quills for writing, which were exported as far as Spain. This craft disappeared with the invention of the metal nib.
