Wine and traditions in the Rhône valley
Perched at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range and overlooking the Rhône Valley, Séguret is surrounded by vineyards and dominated by the tower of its former medieval castle. Follow the signposted route through the village to discover the Porte Reynier, a remnant of the fortifications; the Mascarons fountain; the wash house; the belfry; and the Romanesque church of Saint-Denis.
Word of Mouth
Adjacent to the old southern gate of the fortified town known as ‘Le Portail Neuf’, the Place des Arceaux is well worth a stop. On fine days, the plane trees planted around 1860 and trained into an arbour some 100 years later provide welcome shade. But the most extraordinary thing is that, over time, the intertwining branches have fused together so that the whole now forms a harmonious canopy of foliage. This astonishing natural pergola also offers a view of the remarkable Dentelles de Montmirail.
