The Vézelay Route

Starting in Vézelay in Burgundy, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, this route also ends, on its French section, in another of the Plus Beaux Villages de France: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in the Basque Country.

The distance between them is 1,108 km, and it will take you 54 days’ walking to reach these two villages. Along the way, you’ll pass through two other Plus Beaux Villages de France: Apremont-sur-Allier (Cher), along the River Allier near Nevers, and Gargilesse-Dampierre (Indre) in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
